Will You Feel Fulfilled in 2029?

Nov 16, 2019

Can you believe that it’s almost the end of the year once again and that we’re about to enter a new decade?

When I look back to how life was at the end of 2009, things seemed so very different compared with how they are now, don’t you agree?

I’d just graduated from university and Nicole had just started her own uni life. I was single, looking for a new job and life was good. I had lots of friends around me, I felt happy and optimistic and perimenopause wasn’t even on my radar.

I don’t think I even noticed that we were moving into a new decade, did you?

But the ten years since then have taken me on a very different journey than the one that I would have expected.

I faced a debilitating illness which turned my life upside down. My path back towards optimal health lead me into the work I do now. I had to say goodbye to my dad and also care for my ageing mother through the various ups and downs.

It has been a decade of happiness, fulfilment and joy. It’s also brought me challenges, upheaval and growth and I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Today I’d like to continue this self-reflection and take you on a journey both into the past and into the future. Together we’ll get clear on what you want for the decade to come so you can become healthier, happier and more fulfilled.

What have the past ten years looked like for you?

First I’d like to ask you to take a few moments, either now or later on when you have more time to sit, rest and think.

Take your mind back to 2009 and remember where you were. What was life like then? What brought a smile to your face? What lit you up from within? How did you feel in your body, mind and soul? How did the next years bring you to the point where you are today?

Then consider any challenges that you faced along the way. What were they? How did you feel at the time? If you’ve overcome them, how did you do it? If not, how do you hope to break through?

You can work through your thoughts and ideas however works best for you. I like to take a journal and a pen and write down whatever comes to mind.

Did you have any goals?

I’ve set myself numerous goals over the past ten years. These have included things like battling the illness CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome) that I suffered from for many years, growing my business and so on.

What were yours? Did you have any goals? Did you manage to achieve them?

You may have set a few health goals such as “I want to lose weight”, “I want to improve my sleep”, “I want to feel energised again” or “I want to exercise more.

Many of these goals we manage to achieve. But sometimes we don’t. Or we can’t. And that’s perfectly OK.

Ask yourself why you think you didn’t manage to achieve these goals. Were there obstacles in your way? What did you find most challenging? What prevented you from making these dreams a reality?

As well as helping shed light on your past decade, your answer to these questions can also help you find a better solution that can finally help you to rebalance, revitalise and glow with health.

What will tomorrow bring?

Let's move forward to 10 years from now. We’re in the year 2029! Scary or what? You’re 10 years older so you’ll be somewhere around your late 50s or late 60s…

What will your health be like? Will you be a grandmother by then? Will you have retired yet?

How do you look and feel? Do you feel strong, healthy and sexy? Do you have tons of energy for running around with your grandkids? Are your energy levels high? Do you have fun? Do you feel fulfilled in everything you do?

Give yourself as much time as you need to daydream and create a version of the next ten years according to how you want it to be. Again, you can write down your answers if you choose, or just think about them carefully.

Then I want you to consider the following questions:

  • What will your health look like in 2029 if you don’t change anything?
  • What will your health look like in 2019 if you do change things?
  • Are you the type of person that likes to make big sweeping changes or small incremental changes?
  • Are you ready to make those changes now?

What really works It can feel tough when we’re struggling through each day and wishing things were different.

We often go through periods of feeling proactive and driven to find a solution, then periods where we give up hope and believe that we need to resign ourselves to feeling like this.

You can feel like your old self again. You can look and feel less tired, enjoy more energy and live a rich and fulfilling life again.

Believe in yourself and your ability to create positive change for 2020 and beyond. You owe it to yourself!
