Could Magnesium be a Miracle Cure for Your Menopause Symptoms?

Sep 24, 2016

When you’re doing the rounds with yet another hot flush, battling the belly bloat, flooding your knickers or feeling so low that you’d rather just roll over in bed and go back to sleep, you’ll be forgiven for wishing there was some kind of miracle cure that could help you ‘get over’ the menopause.

You might even dream of finding a solution that will help you get back to the ‘old’ you, the person you used to be before this happened. But as much as you’d love to believe there might be such a thing, we’re living in the real world and nothing like this exists …Or does it?

There are an increasing number of studies which suggest that there is a miracle cure, and that miracle is magnesium. By simply increasing your intake of this wonder mineral, it’s said that you could eliminate your hot flushes, rebalance your hormones, sleep like a baby, heal your PMS, and even start to get that smile back on your face.

So what is the...

Do You Know Why Suppressing Your Anger Spells Disaster?

Sep 24, 2016

“Holding onto anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else. You are the one who gets burned.” Buddha.

Anger is an emotion that strikes fear into the best of us. From a very young age, we’re taught that angry outbursts are highly unacceptable, that ‘nice girls don’t get angry’ or that it is shameful and embarrassing to display our emotions in public like that.

And because of this terrible cultural habit, we’ve grown to be a nation that holds on to its grudges, that harbours negative emotions for far longer than we need to, and one that suffers from an incredible array of stress-related, anger-related problems.

Just like Buddha said all those years ago, you will be the one getting burned if you suppress your anger. You will struggle with your mental health, battle with your physical health and struggle to keep smiling.

Anger isn’t an emotion that we should be afraid of but rather one that we can...

5 Brilliant Ways To Grow Your Birth Confidence (And Beat Your Fear For Good!)

Sep 24, 2016

I’ll never forget the time when I was heavily pregnant with my daughter, Nicole and I paid a visit to a close friend of mine. Her fearful words, “Wow…aren’t you scared about getting it out? How on earth will it fit??” were something I will never ever forget. Naturally, back then I was slightly concerned myself and she only fuelled the fire of fear I’d been trying so hard to ignore.

You see, no matter who we are or where we come from, the prospect of giving birth can be very scary for us all.

Usually this is because we’ve never done it before and so we have no real idea of that to expect, beyond the scenes of women screaming in movies. Or perhaps we have given birth before but it didn’t go entirely to plan. Or maybe everyone who crosses your path seems to take pleasure in recounting their birth horror story complete with gory bits. Or maybe you’ve just watched too many episodes of One Born Every Minute.

But here’s the...

Help! I Can’t Cope With These Heavy Periods Any Longer!

Sep 24, 2016

You’re utterly sick and tired of struggling to cope with your heavy periods. And so at some point, it’s highly likely that you’ll pay your doctor a visit in a search for answers. When you get there you’re likely to find a highly unsympathetic doctor who will just tell you that bleeding vast quantities is nothing at all to worry about ‘at your age’ and tell you that you’ll feel better in time.

But if you’re the one bleeding heavily for around eight to ten days per cycle, using super-sized tampons and a heavy duty sanitary towel and still managing to flood your clothes with crimson blood on a regular basis, I wouldn’t blame you at all for feeling highly dissatisfied with this answer.

Let’s not forget that you know your body better than anyone else, you know that this isn’t normal, and you want to be taken seriously for a change.

Because although heavy periods are very common during the peri-menopause, that doesn’t...

"I Used To Sleep Terribly, Until I Learned These Tricks..."

Sep 24, 2016

It’s excruciating to find yourself tossing and turning the whole night long in a desperate attempt to get to sleep. Despite feeling horribly tired and eager to get some well-deserved rest, you find yourself staring at the clock into the early hours, sleeping fitfully and waking frequently throughout the night.

And nothing you do ever seems to make a blind bit of difference.

And worse still, it can feel as if you’re the only one in the world suffering, and that you’re slowly going slightly mad. It might make you feel a little better to know that this is very common with women of all ages (especially when the menopausal years approach) and even with men too.

But the fact that it’s common doesn’t make it any more bearable- as well as being incredibly frustrating, sleeplessness also has a massive effect upon your quality of life, your happiness and even your menopausal symptoms.

So today I’d like to explain the really easy tricks you can use to...

Want to Know the Best Way to Survive the Menopause?

Sep 24, 2016

Let’s be honest- the years of the menopause aren’t exactly a walk in the park.

But you don’t need me to tell you that, do you? Because you’ve probably experienced most of its debilitating symptoms first-hand, or you’re concerned that they could be lurking just around the corner for you in your hormonal life.

You know enough about hot flushes, extra tummy fat and thickening waistlines, decreasing libidos, horrible brain fog and vast swings in mood from minute to the next that you could probably write a book about it.

You’ve experienced for yourself the deep-rooted anger, the intense fear, the stifling sadness and sometimes even the utter despair that comes from battling all of these symptoms day after day without a clue when it’s going to end. Or even if it’s ever going to get any better.

Of course there are good days, and there are bad days.

Sometimes you feel as if you might just be able to make it through okay. But there are also...

In fact, thanks to my...

Want To Balance Your Hormones? Focus On Your Gut Health

Sep 24, 2016

When we’re working hard to overcome our crazy episodes of PMT, battle through our menopause symptoms, struggle to conceive or even just move towards optimal hormonal health, we rarely consider the health of our guts.

Sleep? Yes. Clean eating? Yes. Exercise? Most definitely.

But the health of our stomachs and intestines rarely come into the picture unless we are suffering with digestive issues such as pain or discomfort. They just do their job and we don’t really give them a second thought.

However, if you really want to help balance your hormones and finally achieve optimal health, it’s vital you pay attention to your ‘second brain’ and give it a little love.

Do this and you’ll avoid gaining huge amounts of weight during pregnancy, you’ll improve your childbirth experience, you’ll ease your symptoms of the menopause such as hot flushes, brain fog and low libido, you’ll overcome those monthly fluctuations and you could even...

Sep 24, 2016

Have you noticed how, as the years have been ticking by, you’ve started to get somewhat thicker around the middle?

You don’t have that hour-glass figure that used to be the envy of all of your girlie friends these days, and you’re starting to feel embarrassed about the way you look. Because the very same thing happened to your mother at around the same age, and your grandmother, and your great-grandmother. And now, it seems to be happening to you.

So, as much as you absolutely loathe what’s happening to your waistline,...
